Past Life Regression was probably discovered accidentally by hypnotherapists directing the client back to the first time they experienced something. We now take this step intentionally to reveal deeper seated problems, repetitive behaviours or unexplained phobias and illnesses.

Past Life Regression can be an extension of Regression Therapy or a ‘tourist trip’ to a past life. Where it used as a therapy it can alleviate problems that have been affecting your life for which there seems to be no cause. It is common for people to describe pain in ways that reveals their understanding of it's origin - a pain in the shoulder ‘like a knife in my back’; headaches ‘like a band being tightened around my head’. Most of us have no experience of these in this life, however, under hypnosis, if we are taken back to the origins of these experiences, our subconscious will take us to a life where these things actually happened to us.

Reincarnation is the basis of many of the worlds spiritual beliefs including  Buddhism; Hinduism; Sikhism; Gnostic and Esoteric Christianity, to name but a few. I have found that more and more people, especially children, have some memory of a past life, although they are not always encouraged to trust that memory because of the wider spiritual connotations.

It has a beautiful logic to me and answers all the questions that I could find no other sensible solution to, including déjà-vu; karma (probably the most misunderstood); intuition; energy or spiritual healing; not forgetting ‘why are we here?’; ‘why is life unfair?’...  I am happy to answer your individual questions during your consultations, or if you have a group who would like me to give a workshop on Past Life Regression please contact me.

It is not necessary for you to believe in reincarnation for Past Life Regression to work for you. Modern psychology doesn't seem to have a lot to say about this - some say that it is a metaphor that your subconscious has constructed for you to understand your problem - whatever you believe, it can have remarkable results with a wide range of physical and emotional problems that have no clear source. Often it can be a deeply profound and life changing experience.

If you are just intrigued and want to experience it for yourself, contact me for a Past Life Regression so you can make your own mind up!

Many problems that we experience have their root cause in something that happened in our past which may be below the level of conscious awareness. Regression Therapy uses altered states of awareness to uncover these sources by taking you back, in a safe and structured way, to those early experiences to relive and resolve traumas or conflicts and to transform them, so that you are no longer reacting unconsciously to stimuli in a way that is no longer useful to you.

Whenever we have an experience, the memory is imprinted in our mind with it's connecting emotion - the stronger the emotion, the more brain chemicals are released to imprint that memory. We are all aware that a smell, maybe freshcut grass, a specific perfume, even new tarmac, will take us back in our thoughts or give us a good (or bad!) feeling. Something we are not always aware of is that a phrase, a person's name, looks or accent, or some other innocent trigger, can make us react unconsciously in a way that is much more connected to a previous situation or person. Symptoms can include panic attacks, phobias, emotional outbursts, self-harming, blocked feelings, repeating relationship patterns, confidence issues and even physical illness. Regression Therapy is especially useful for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and survivors of child abuse or childhood trauma.

Formal hypnosis induction techniques are not always necessary to achieve regression although the first session may be quite similar to that used for suggestive hypnotherapy. Often, because the repressed memories are just below the surface of awareness, hypnosis is a natural continuation of the initial interview. Depending on your requirements  Past Life Regression may also be useful.

Body Therapy

I often use Body Therapy, a form of psychodrama, during Regression to transform the problem in a way that is safe and structured. The body holds physical memories of past traumas and emotions, by reframing memories held in the body changes can be quite dramatic. As proof of this connection between body memories and emotions try sitting or standing with your shoulders hunched, your head bowed and your mouth turned down, your stomach relaxed and your breathing shallow - how do you feel? Now, sit or stand up straight, shoulders relaxed, your stomach held in and your breathing deep, your head up and a smile on your face - do you feel different?

Body Therapy can take a number of different guises; holding & hugging (we use cushions!), releasing from constraint, pushing away an attacker, removing a dagger, bullet etc. - the intention is to allow the body to experience doing what it could not do at the time.
